FOOD WAS OVER COOKED. THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH. THEY HAVE AN ATM. THEY GIVE YOU ONE CONDIMENT FREE ALL OTHERS ARE $.32, WHICH WAS NO PROBLEM BUT YOU DIP ONE SHRIMP AND IT'S ALL GONE. WILL NEVER GO BACK. AMBER JACK'S IS MY GO TO, BUT THEY WERE CLOSED.

Best fried chicken ever!

This was two visits in one for us today..... Our first and LAST!!! The shrimp and fish were overbreaded and overcooked. The deviled crab was mostly fillers. We were not satisfied with the quality and taste of the food here!However, I've had their fried chicken at a church luncheon and it was delicious.

This was my second time going to the Shrimp Boat since moving back to the area. The food is always hot but this particular day there was a line of people when I walked in. The line moved quickly but the attendant (who was new) got my order wrong. No worries though... I brought it back and a more experienced attendant replaced my order and got me my food *twice* before I had time to panic and hunger pains start to set in. This is a great place for a single guy like me who will never cook fried chicken, and also appreciates a down home feel. I was very happy and will be back soon.

Box fantail shrimp. Box chicken strips. The cheesecake was served in the box! Popeye's shrimp is better than this.

This place has the best southern fried everything! Not a chain, local, reasonably priced. Not greasy, or over seasoned. Chicken livers are our favorite. You arent going for the atmosphere rather the food which is great.

Food is okay. Not anything extra spectacular, but it was clean and good food. One of the cashiers was short with us.

I ordered 1 green shrimp and scallops. Another 1 green shrimp and fish (white fish what ever that is) and 1 sweet tea. $28 dollars and change. CASH ONLY . I had to use the atm that's $1.50 so basically what I got for a $30 meal was over fried food , very greasy . Loads of French fries and hush puppies but not enough of the main entree. I got cocktail sauce but it barely filled the small cup. Asked for more and that cost another 32 cents. I guess for Gastonia it was busy. Not the safest area and the parking lot was very dark. Health score was a 99 so that's a plus. I will not be back nor would I recommend it to others.

Been eating here for years. My food is always on point when I go and the staff is always friendly and personable. I hadn’t been in over a year and was still greeted by name when I walked in.

Variety of quick bite food to choose from. I order the chicken wings and butterfly shrimp with 1/2 gallon tea ( cheaper then a large tea with your own refills).

Shrimp, chicken, hushpuppies, fries, and slaw all passed my test. Ladies at the front counter were all nice and the place was clean. Would recommend it for sure.

If you close at 8 why would you not take an order at 7:35? Just asking... And, update your business! Every company I know accepts credit/debit cards except you. SMH

Went at lunch time and service was surprisingly good, excellent fried chicken breast and deep fried mushrooms with sweet tea that was just right. Staff was friendly while serving, tables were cleaned and ready for next customer. Shrimp Boat has been around for as long as I can remember, with their kind of food and service they will be around for many years to come...great place to go for a quick call in, pick up or go sit eat and chat.

Fish was Cold Fries Cold. Will not be back

This is my hometown favorite. The only problem is it is still cash only. There is an ATM but it charges a fee. Flounder, fries, and hushpuppies-- simple but I love it!

Bad experience went with my family to order got less order than what I order because the desk clerk was talking with a friend n didn’t listen to the correct order missing one order . Sat down to eat my fish sandwich had bones on the filets sandwich then she going tell me sometimes it comes with bones really bones on a fish sandwich 🤢then offered me two chicken legs really they just had one people be careful eating fish sandwich with bones I guess is regular for them how the lady said it comes sometimes had a bad experience

Amazing food! It's always delicious every time. I know I can count on the Shrimp Boat to deliver that amazing taste every single time. I wish it wasn't cash only though.

Southern Hospitality WILL ALWAYS BE MY BIGGEST THING. Too relaxed not to have an amazing Southern Greeting. The fish was small and just ok, along with the baby order of fries..... BUT THE CHICKEN...... The Chicken reminds me of the Chicken Coop in Charlotte. IT'S GOOD!!!!

I have been visiting the Shrimp Boat for over 30 years. The food here is always fresh, hot and delicious. Highly recommend their chicken and their deep fried mushrooms are scrumptious.

When I come home from Nashville TN this is my first restaurant I go to love this place best chuckwagon sandwich ever had but they also serve other food.

Best fried chicken in Gaston County and surrounding. A favorite of old school Carolina Panthers players since inception of team. Photos on wall at Shrimp Boat. I love it there and NEVER A DISAPPOINTMENT

Great food just need better staff

An amazing place to get a plate of chicken!

Shrimp Boat done let me down. They're usually pretty good. But this last transaction was jacked up. I got a fish sandwich and a friend of mine got a chicken sandwich. The meat on both sandwiches were tough. I can tell that they weren't freshly fried and had been sitting under the lamp for 30 min or so. While my fish was full of bones my friend's chicken sandwich was composed of 2 chicken strips. I've seen better come out of that establishment. I hope very much that they can get back to being the jewel of Gastonia again. For now, I'm a bit disappointed.

I called to get some of that good chicken at 8, but they said they were closed maybe fix the hours online. I love your food just going to give it a break for now till I get over it.

It was ok fried fish but the deviled crab was mainly breading. Cash only too, who does that?
